Arsenal's Marquinhos joins Nantes on season-long loan

Arsenal's Marquinhos, an attacking player, has embarked on a loan journey for the 2023-24 season, joining the ranks of French Ligue 1 team Nantes. Having returned to the Gunners for pre-season activities, the 20-year-old previously spent the latter part of the 2022-23 season with Norwich City, where he showcased his skills with a goal and an assist in 11 appearances.

Nevertheless, Marquinhos currently faces stiff competition from Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, and Fabio Vieira for a spot in Arsenal's starting lineup. As a result, he has been sent on loan once again to foster his ongoing development.

Departing Sao Paulo in the summer of 2022, the Brazilian talent joined Mikel Arteta's squad and made an impactful debut during a Europa League match against FC Zurich. He contributed a goal and an assist, securing a 2-1 victory for Arsenal. Subsequently, Marquinhos made his entrance into the Premier League as a substitute during a 3-0 triumph over Brentford. However, he struggled to maintain a consistent presence before making the move to Carrow Road.

Following his loan transfer, the 20-year-old joins the path paved by Charlie Patino, who also left Emirates Stadium. Patino, an English midfielder, signed a temporary deal with Swansea City.
